Revenge refers to one's desire in getting even. That is, to be able to strike back for having been hurt, lost, or embarrassed or to merely want others to feel the same way as they made them feel us and make their pride become their disgrace. One can do this even if the target of revenge did not have the slightest idea of having done harm to the other. It is just another form or reciprocating but in a negative way.
The main reason for people seeking revenge is that they feel indignant about having to suffer from embarrassment or humiliation and they want to rise up and do something to those who have done these to him to gratify their pride. This kind of emotion is almost instinctive to a lot of people especially when they a physical or emotional part of them is being oppressed.
When an individual feels injured or lost especially in unjust conditions, he tends to feel anger, envy, or shame and this causes him to want to hunt for revenge. This kind of emotion is stirred by just a mere unconscious act that is done tactlessly or without any bad intentions. A more common cause of this is when the individual gets reprimanded openly or when someone deliberately hurt him physically with bad intentions in mind.
When an individual feels seemingly inferior to someone who has more power or better circumstances especially when the other person attained it in dishonest ways, he tends to be dominated by the aspiration to get revenge because of being powerless over the other. This emotion is even made stronger when others are in the same situation and in a lower position and the person feels sorry for it.
The person may be so sensitive when it comes to fighting for honor not just of himself but also of others such as his relatives, his affiliation, or his friends and so when another individual stamps on their honor, the attacked individual will be very vulnerable to get indignant about it.
People get revenge in a range of ways and this often depends on the conditions that somebody is in as well as the personality of the individual. People do a lot of different things to hunt for revenge but all of these are done in order to do something for a self-esteem that was stomped upon.
The most common way of getting revenge is do to another person what this other person did and make another person as much as possible feel the same way just like how this other person made someone feel. Teaching another individual a lesson or making another person learn his lesson is also one way of getting revenge and this is done by punishing someone for a wrong deed done or making another individual face difficult situations that he deserves.
There is no better way to get revenge than forgiving the other individual and just continue to live comfortably after having been bruised emotionally or physically. This makes someone strong for not getting easily affected and this also makes others see someone with a great image.
