The new version which is the follow up to the passionately demanded F50 adiZero, the F50 adiZero Prime appointed a ludicrous new reference point in ultra light performance soccer cleats by drubbing out their prior versions by a slight 20g. The authoritative World Cup top scoring boot the forerunner adiZero was available in 2 alternative material varieties, Leather and Synthetic - with the artificial option of the cleats listing the weight at a bare 165 grammes.
The adidas adizero prime will be available in just Synthetic, but has had numerous special tweaks to effect it's weight down to a bare 145 grammes per foot. Amazingly, the adiZero was not the lightest shoe launched last term, with German rivals Puma taking the plaudits with the V 1.10 SL at 155g; except with the adiZero Primes, it definitely seems that the illustrious Three Stripes of adidas will take some conquering from their latest position at the top.
Amongst the reasons behind this weight-drop is the new upper. Entitled the adiTwin Light, this newly devised fabric is unique to the adidas adizero prime and is once again a single piece of synthetic for optimal aid, ball touch and, of course, lower weight.
Next is the TPU bottom frame; It's known that the German brand are real fans of TPU, having used it in the inceptive F50 adiZero inner bands of support, and it's repeated here in in the form of the dark coloured 'layer' overhead the sole plate and under the upper section.
This clever component will take the burden away from the upper and frame (which - due to the forces exerted during a match - are constantly trying to move in different directions) and result in a more dependable, suitable pair of boots.
Adidas have also clearly left no stone unturned on this new boot, employing lightweight (and bullet proof!) Kevlar lacing to ensure that each milligram of unnecessary material has been taken off these well-defined looking soccer cleats.
One of the contentious areas for many football boots fans is the the cost. At ?250-$400 plus, these are the costliest boots that the brand have ever produced.
Soccer players questioned the ?275 price tag of the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II when they were released, and the ? 260 tag of the new AdiZero Prime as a move by adidas to elevate their shoes into the same 'top level' price band that their counterparts have created.
