This is a short article about slow computer fixes. Reduced computer efficiency can really impact your performance as a computer user. As a result, you may find yourself waiting in frustration as your computer tries to catch up with what you last did. In this article I'm going to talk about why it is that a computer can start acting slowly, and tell you about some things that you can do to get it working quickly again.
The usual targets for replacement when the computer starts running slowly are the processor, memory, and hard drive. New computers on the market turns out faster processors, memory and hard drive, but this does not explain how an old computer which was once running quite fast can start running slowly as time goes by. There is no reason at all for the processor or memory to slow down, and the hard disk can become a bit slower as it becomes full of unnecessary data, but this is really easily fixed just by deleting the data that is not needed any more. While it's true that you can upgrade these components of the computer in order to get a speed boost, if you found that your computer has slowed down, there's usually something else at work which you need to address.
One of the factors of a computer that most people are unaware of it is the database which is central to the way Windows works. The database is called the Windows registry, and it's responsible for keeping track of lots of different settings relating to the different components of your computer, both hardware and software. It is this information which allows the programs on your computer to operate correctly using the hardware which is installed inside your machine. Reduced efficiency is often the effect of incorrect information within the registry, leading to conflicts between software and hardware that should not exist.
Now, the registry is a very complicated database with tens of thousands of different entries, and for a person to manually go through those looking for errors and then repairing them, you would need to have an amazingly in-depth knowledge of all the different possible settings for every different possible computer configuration, which would basically be impossible. Also add to this the fact that if you made a single error in your editing you could make your computer unstable, even possibly causing it to crash so severely that it will not work any more, you can see that manually editing the registry database is not a good idea unless there's something very specific that you want to achieve with a certain software program and there's no other way to do it. All in all, manually editing the registry is best used for specific purposes, like activating hidden features of certain programs, and even then only by power users who know exactly what they are doing.
So exactly how does this assist the average home pc user who is trying to find very slow computer fix? These days there are programs which can automatically clean up the registry for you so that you don't need to attempt to do by yourself. The programs are capable of scanning through all the different entries within the Windows Registry, finding the errors, and fixing them. It is possible for a computer program to do this because it is able to draw upon a large database full of information about the correct settings that should exist within the Windows registry, which enables it to find the incorrect entries rapidly. As it is these incorrect values which have caused poor performance in the past, fixing them will result in a massive boost of performance which you should be able to notice immediately.
